"Art is very important to our people, because it is linked to our spirituality. Like the tepi, kuripe, the bracelets, the spears, everything is linked to spirituality, everything is linked to our culture, our tradition." - Hushahu

Yawanawa Art and Community

The Yawanawa community is full of art, not only the handicrafts, but the art of singing, the art of story telling and dancing. There are Yawanawa dances and songs full of the great power. It is so important that people are aware of this. It is ancient knowledge and it needs to be passed on.

"Art is very important to our people, because it is linked to our spirituality. Like the tepi, kuripe, the bracelets, the spears, everything is linked to spirituality, everything is linked to our culture, our tradition." - Hushahu

In 2005 Hushahu Yawanawa was the first woman of her people to make a shamanic training program, previously only allowed for men. Breaking cultural paradigms, today she is an important figure responsible not only for the maintenance of spiritual but also artistic Yawanawa knowledge.

One of a kind handmade bracelets

Unique handmade medicine bracelets from Yawanawa Tribe in Brazil. All symbols are ancient tribal designs hence carrying the spiritual message of the each tribe. The bracelets are woven by the Yawanawa women in the power of Uni (Ayahuasca), and in fact are a transmission of spiritual visions that come to them and carry a blessing and protection for the person who wears it.

They combine history, memory and art and have sacred meaning, creating the connection with forest beings, the ancestral force, invoking courage, strength, power and wisdom. It is a language of great importance for the artistic and cultural heritage of these peoples, suggesting a present exchange, between ways of observing, experiencing and understanding the world.

Each bracelet is absolutely unique, and can never be repeated.
